Beauty Trends this Winter!

Keep up with the latest fashion trends this winter by being up-to-date with the current beauty trends!

This winter it’s all about Berry and Burgundy lips with neutral eyes. The reason for this contrast is because the lips are the centre-piece of this season and eyes should not draw attention away from the lips!

An amazing palette to keep the eyes neutral with and that is student friendly is MUA’s new matte palette in ‘Ever After’. I’m totally in LOVE with this palette, costing only £4 for 10 amazing, colours, it can help you achieve a soft and simple day time look to be paired with the deep lips or can also be transformed into a sexy smokey night-time look without looking too much minus the shimmer. For day times, sweep a light shade over the lid and deepen the crease with the brown shades, make sure to blend blend blend; no-one likes the harsh lines! Finish off with liner if desired and add plenty coats of mascara. For night-times, go dramatic on both eyes and lips which will help you achieve a sultry sexy look; sweep the lighter colours on the brow bone to make it pop, add the browns in the crease and pat the black on your lid, finish off with liner and lashes if desired. This palette is such a versatile palette as it can also be used to highlight and contour the face to add dimension and shape!

Moving on to the lips, you can go from affordable lipsticks to high-end lipsticks whatever your choice. For an affordable option, I've decided to pick ‘Revenge’ which is from Collection’s new Gothic Glam line. This colour is an intense red with brown undertones, an alternative is ‘Deepest Plum’ by Vivo which is a deep red with purple undertones and both colours are perfect for this season!

If you’re like me and sometimes like to splash out on a Mac bullet lipstick, try ‘Rebel’ which has a satin finish. It is a gorgeous purple with pink undertones and it absolutely beautiful! If you just want to make do with what you have, apply a red lipstick to the lips and gradually add a black or brown liner to the lips and blend until the preferred intensity.

Top tip: Make sure to prep the lips by exfoliating them so that the lipsticks glide on as smooth as possible. To make a home-made lip scrub, add 1tsp of granulated sugar with 1/2tsp honey, mix and scrub on the lips.  Lips will feel as smooth as ever and don’t worry if it ‘accidentally’ enters the mouth, it’s all edible!

Summer Beauty Essentials

Summer hit the UK after a long time this year and when it hit, it hit! Weather was so hot that people were getting a better tan staying at home than they would have done if they had gone on holiday!
In this post I'm going to talk about products which will be essential to bear this heat but also stay healthy and good looking.

First product essential for this weather is sunscreen! This is a must as sunscreen protects one's skin from the sun's harmful rays such as UVA and UVB rays. Both rays expose one's skin to the sun causing one to age quickly as it is damaging the skin cells. Therefore, it has also been advocated that sunscreen should be used daily to avoid wrinkles and to slow down the aging process.

If you hardly burn in the sun, you should wear Sun Protection Factor (SPF) 6 or 10 sunscreen. If you burn/tan moderately, wear SPF 15, 20 or 25. If you burn high, then 30 or 50, and if you burn a lot then you should be wearing sunscreen with SPF 50+.

The next product is a skin evener, whether that be a foundation, tinted moisturiser, BB cream or CC cream. In hot weathers I advise one to use something light so that the skin is able to breathe, however if you do want to use a foundation, use a light foundation that is preferably water-based so that the foundation does not clog up the pores, for example Mac Face and Body. This foundation is also good because once it sets onto the skin, it does not transfer onto clothes, which is an essential in the summer as people tend to sweat and makeup usually runs off.

Waterpoof mascara is a must in the summer as it is resistant to moisture, it holds the lashes curl and also gives a wide-awake look.

In the summer, avoid using a powder blusher as it may seem a bit cakey and not have longevity. Invest in a good waterproof cream brush, apply little at a time, blending it into the skin to make it appear natural.

If you swear by eyeliner, make sure it is a waterproof eyeliner. When purchasing a waterproof eyeliner test it out on the hand and make sure that it doesn't crumble. I've found that to be the problem with a lit of dip-liners, such as the Collection waterproof eyeliner and also a Max Factor waterproof eyeliner. The eyeliner that I love that I know never crumbles but has absolutely forever longevity is the 17 Tattoo Me Eyeliner. This stuff is AH-MAZING!!!! I always count on this eyeliner for a day that I know I'm going to be out in the sun or days where I know I may tear up. This has the longest staying power ever! The formula is a liquid liner with a fine tip brush and once its on, it's on alright! Sometimes I find this eyeliner really difficult to take off as well! But trust me, it is worth investing in as its waterproof and has amazing staying power.

In the summer make sure you're drinking plenty of water to keep your body hydrated, also by drinking loads of water you're getting rid of the toxins that are in the body making it more healthier.

I hope this helps and if you ever want to request something for me to blog about, be sure to tweet me on @naadiyaxox . Thankyou! Xxx

Benefits of Rose Water!

I absolutely LOVE rose water! It is such a simple concoction but work wonders and has done for  for centuries. Below I will list the incredible number of things that just rose water alone can do.

  1. Rose water can be sprayed on the face and be used as a toner to even out skin tone so that skin is one colour. Because there are no chemicals in it, it will cause no harm to the skin.
  2.  Can be applied to the face to clean up any dirt or oil one may have accumulated on the face, unclogging pores thus preventing acne and pimples
  3. Acts as a makeup sealant if sprayed after applying your makeup. Just remember that after spraying on the face, makeup will rise to the surface, let the water evaporate and makeup will be sealed onto the face for a very long time
  4. Rose petals have anti-inflammatory properties so it can help reduce redness from irritated or over-heated skin
  5. Some people use rose water as a rich source of antioxidants, helping to strengthen capillaries and regenerate skin tissues
  6. Rose water can be used as a moisturiser for those with dry skin as the sugars in the petals add to the water's soothing effect, and the natural oils trap moisture in the skin, helping if feel and look smoother.
  7. Rose water can be used in several sweet dishes
  8. The smell of roses can improve the mood by providing peace and help to relieve stress. When the body is tired, add rose water in the tub and soak in it for 15 minutes, it will give a different relaxation.

DIY: Facial Masks

If you follow me on Twitter, you may have probably noticed that I enjoy making face masks. I absolutely love putting things on my skin that benefit the inner beauty. So in this post, I will be sharing a few of the facial masks that I make at home that leave the skin feeling amazing!

Oat, Honey and Green Tea Mask

This masks is one of my favourite. It makes the skin appear fresh and radiant. The oats act as an exfoliator which is useful in getting rid of any dead skin that may have built up on the face. Honey has anti-bacterial qualities so will help again fighting spots and reducing them, it also is a good moisturiser keeping the skin feeling soft. Green tea makes the skin look radiant and fresh, also the actual green tea mixture acts well as an exfoliant too.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbs Oats (breakfast ones, grounded roughly using a pestle and mortar)
  • 1 tbs honey
  • Green Tea teabag, which has been infused in 1 tbs hot water.
Method:
  1. Get a bowl and add the roughly ground oats
  2. Put the green tea liquid into the oats. Also tear up the tea bag and insert the content of the tea bag into the bowl
  3. Add the honey and stir the mixture
  4. Apply to the face with fingers or a spoon. Leave on for 15 minutes.
  5. After 15 minutes, work the mixture into the face with the fingers using circular motions.
  6. Wash off using luke-warm water
Sugar and Honey Scrub

This is an amazing scrub if you want to have absolutely smooth, oh-so-soft skin, and it is so easy aswell!

Combine 2 tsp granulated sugar with 1 tsp honey. You can also add natural yoghurt or lemon juice if you prefer.

Just remember not to make it too runny. After that, scrub it on your face, avoiding the delicate eye area. If you have sensitive skin don't scrub as hard, but with a light hand. After a good 5 minutes wash the face with luke-warm water and your skin will feel amazinnngggg!!

Enjoyy! Xxx

Mac: Ruby Woo vs Candy YumYum

So this is a review on a purchase I recently made. A few weeks ago I brought Mac Cosmetics' famous Ruby Woo lipstick. The lipstick is a rich, bold, matte, retro red with blue undertones that make the teeth appear whiter. It's a beautiful red that would suit any skin tone, even celebrities like Rihanna love it!
Being that the advantage, the really thing that I think lets this lipstick down is that it is So dry! Ruby Woo you would think being a top seller would have a lovely consistency, but no, it is really dry on the lips. Even when wanting to swatch the lipstick on the back on my hand was a challenge. And before you say it, that you should try and wear a lip balm underneath it, I have, but even with that underneath, it just sucked the moisture out of my lips resulting in them to chap! I was very disappointed with this lipstick. I'm not saying that I'm never going to wear it ever again, I'd just say that it's not what people who haven't tried it think of it as.

My next purchase was Mac Cosmetics' Candy Yum Yum lipstick. It is a beautiful, matte, vibrant pink lipstick. The thing that drew me to this colour was how bright it was, because I would definitely wear a colour like this on a summers day where my clothes are not competing, or just to brighten my mood. Again I would say that this lipstick would suit any skin tone.
In comparison to Ruby Woo, my experience of Candy YumYum is that it is not drying, but moisturising, and also you can built upon the intensity of the lipstick. So if you want a thin layer of the color, just add the product on the lips with a brush. If you want the colour to pop on your lips then maybe apply directly to the lips, applying a few coats.
The only disadvantage I would have for Candy YumYum is that when it is taken off, it leaves a stain on the lips, you could say that that is a plus-point; having longevity, but when it needs to be removed it is difficult to get rid of the stain.

**DISCLAIMER: Both products were purchased by me.
The picture of Candy YumYum is not mine, I found it on the internet.
This is my experience which may be different to yours, I am just informing you how I view the product.
